An early start saw me in Denny's , coffee and scrambled egg on toast - weirdly served as a sandwich, but hey ho when in Rome don't call ceaser.
On my way I wanted to visit goblin valley - a stop off due to a film I had seen and kne part was filmed in the valley. A comedy starring segourney weaver ( aliens films) tim Allen ( wild hogs, home improvement ) which I had enjoyed and originally thought was a set made for the film. No it is real, or should I say surreal as it is alien in its look and feel, these strange stone obelisques just stand all around, seemingly to come from the background cliffs.
After enjoying an hour in the park among the goblins in 90 degree heat I had had enough and decided to carry on. Programming the sat nav on my phone for Escalante, then entering the address (oops I made a mistake), I set off carrying on with my adventure, refuelled for $60 (12 us gallons) that's around £40. Mmmmmmmmmm!
I carried unaware I had programmed the sat nav wrong, instead of saying it did not have that street it took mev40 miles away to another town, I only realised this when asking where the hotel might be.
"Sir the only Cowboy Country Inn I know is in Escalante"
'yes, that's the one I want'
"Sir your in Bruce canyon, your 40 mile away"
After showing him my sat nav he understood the street name mishap, "happens reglar with there Tom toms"
I went on my way some 320 miles in a day, but did happen on some beautiful scenery.
Next time I will just go to centre of the town and then I will be within spitting distance.
